Tomorrow marks three weeks of life with Esti and it has been nothing short of a wild ride! If you missed our birth story, you can read it here. That first week was a total doozie…as I struggled to recover from my episiotomy and could only walk at a snail’s pace. I couldn’t have been more grateful for my husband, who cooked us every meal, changed diapers, tracked feedings, did laundry and made sure I was well taken care of. Talk about Superdad! But then reality kicked in and before I knew it, he was back to work and it was just us girls!
The second week proved to be much better. My body was healing quickly and I was excited to get into the studio with the baby and get some stuff done. I am finding that life as a new mom and an entrepreneur is one tough role to balance! Unfortunately, running my own business doesn’t just stop because the baby arrived. Nap time, has some how turned into email time and sleep is harder and harder to come by. All you “mompreneurs” know exactly what I am talking about! Then, the guilt sets in. “Did I cuddle her enough today? Did I look at her enough today? Did I take in all her little precious details so I never forget how tiny she is right now?”
That’s when I decided that emails could wait and phone calls wouldn’t get answered. I picked up my Canon Rebel SL1 and spent the morning in bed with Esti, observing and capturing all her little details using the Plan Your Baby Moments app by Canon. I love taking photos, but let’s get real, I am no Jen Bajic and I had no idea how or what I should be photographing when capturing a newborn. What I love most about the Plan Your Baby Moments app is that it’s separated into age categories, providing you with detailed instructions and guidelines on how and what to capture during that time period in your baby’s life. It even tells you which lens to use and how to set up backdrops and lighting for the most professional looking photos that you can take right in your own home!
With a variety of different photos to take during the 0-3M stage, I decided to focus on her tiny details. I was really happy with how these turned out and I can’t wait to add them into her baby book so that I never forget just how tiny her little fingers and toes are right now.
Be sure to share your #babymoment photos and let me know how you like using the app with a comment below!
