Let’s face it, being a mom is hard and some days the thought of putting on “real” clothes, doing your hair and then applying makeup is a very daunting task. Especially after long nights of interrupted sleep from crying babies or fussy toddlers. ( Sleep? What’s that?) But when I can push past the tired me, put in some effort and get out of my sweats, it feels so good! So, once I started feeling a bit better about my body after having a baby three months ago, I did a little shopping. Hit up some of the amazing January sales and found some great pieces that I felt good in.
Do you know what the secret is to getting into jeans after you have had a baby? Buy bigger jeans! Ones that fit, even if that means 2 or 3 sizes bigger than what you used to wear. I’m telling you, there is nothing that can make you feel worse than trying to stuff yourself and your new curves into a pair of jeans that just don’t fit. And I know what you are thinking….”but why spend the money on a pair of jeans I don’t want to fit into long term? ” ” I plan to loose the weight and get back to my original size.” All the power to you! In the mean time, do yourself a favor and buy a pair that fit you now. The minute I gave in and stepped up the size to something that actually fit, I felt SO much better and my confidence went through the roof. I actually started to embrace my new body! I put away the maternity leggings and decided it was time to start dressing like “me” again. The old me. The me that had style and a love for fashion. Not the me that’s rocking a milk soaked t-shirt with a messy top knot and stretched out sweat pants….for the third day in a row.
Of course my practical side is screaming in the background! Nothing ruins a silk shirt better then a steam of wet, hot spit up! As a new mom, I want to look stylish but comfortable with practical pieces that aren’t going to be ruined by baby. So here is my new obsession….The Jogger. Elastic waist, elastic ankle. These babies have you covered on all bases. Comfortable to wear, easy to wash, and they can take you from day to night with the change of a shoe. I’ve styled them here for a day in the city. A super casual and comfy look when bustling around with Esti in our Stokke stroller. I can’t wait to transition these to spring with some cute camis and strappy sandals.
I hope these pics will inspire you to shed the sweats and give yourself the attention you deserve.
