I have been dying to share our gender reveal with you! We found out about 10 weeks ago at our detail ultrasound appointment, but really wanted to keep the the special news for ourselves for a while before sharing it with everyone else. Our ultrasound appointment was at 20 weeks and we kindly asked our technician to keep the gender a secret and to write it in an envelope for us. We had bigger plans! My husband and I had booked a trip to Maui, and would be flying out the night of our appointment for a relaxing babymoon. We thought it would be really special to bring along the envelope and discover the baby’s gender, alone, just the two of us, on beautiful Sugar Beach in Kihei.
How I was able to carry the envelope around in my purse the entire trip without opening it, was beyond me. We patiently waited until we arrived and didn’t end up opening the envelope until the follow evening before we headed out to dinner. The sun was setting on the water, there was a warm breeze blowing through our lanai….it was the perfect setting and something I will never ever forget. When the time came, I couldn’t even open it, I handed it to Todd and he told me the news….
Yes, I am delighted to tell you we are expecting a baby GIRL in mid November! We wanted a fun way to share the exciting news with everyone, so I asked my lovely friend Julie, from The Whisk, if she could create some custom cookies for me. I first fell in love with the idea when she posted a photo on her Instagram feed. How fun to be able to break open the cookie to reveal the gender inside. Such a fabulous way to share with family and friends if you are throwing a gender reveal party, or you could mail a cookie to loved ones that can’t be with you to share the news. Her work is like nothing I have ever seen before….so detailed and precise, it’s hard to believe that it’s all edible! Not only are her cookies a work of art, they are absolutely DELISH! If you are interested in placing an order, she does all sorts of cookies from wedding favors to birthday parties. You can contact her here.
Be sure to follow along with me on our Instagram feed for baby outfit inspirations, nursery ideas, and products I love for baby. I am also looking forward to sharing our three part series with the Rockababy Guru! Here on the blog we will be talking all about planning the nursery, which strollers, car seats and breastpumps are a must and what to expect during the first few weeks with a newborn (cause I have absolutely NO idea!)
